i bought a skateboard on ebay today. yes, me.  i've been wanting a longboard for a good few years now.  everyone here uses them for commuting to class and they just seem so handy.  my roommate works at a surf/skate shop so she helped me pick out the right one.  its the same one she has - and i figured hey, a lot of people might have this board. so i'm taking up a project.  #1 i need to learn how to ride this damn thing - evening lessons are going to be taught in the parking lot under the cover of darkness by myself and the pavement.  i have a feeling i will be hitting it often. #2 i'm painting it.  im thinking this:  sand off the original

ok.  so the derek painting ended up not being so much of a huge painting.  but it was a new style, and i'm enjoying how it ended up.  i was really wanting to do a large full-3/4 body painting that had softer lighting, but with limited photos of him, this is what came out (im impatient and cant wait for photos to be taken). ive done 3 paintings since ive come home for christmas and i plan on pumping three more out before i head back to wilmington. really, i dont know who reads this but i might as well say whats on my mind.

so i spent all day getting some masonite board cut up at home depot... then i grabbed some gesso at the art store... i'm ready to tackle a huge painting.  ive asked my friend derek to model for me, because i feel like we really understand each other right now.  we both feel, after a year and a half at college, that we are 2 of the only people who have actually CHANGED at all in college.  all of our other friends (though i love them to death, dont get me wrong) havent changed much at all.  and i dont understand them, and they dont get me anymore.  i want to sit at home alone and paint, not go out and do the same thing we did in high school. t
